Phoenix
My step-grandma Ong was born in Toisan in 1928 & has lived in Phoenix, Arizona since the 60s. Resourceful in the extreme, she farms the hell out of her little patch of urban desert, growing various greens, daikon, squash & citrus, as well as slowly-evolving assemblages & installations of cardboard, rags & other repurposed materials.
